FOCUS AREA: SOCIAL INNOVATION & RESOURCE SECURITY
Margaret is pursuing a M.A. in Communication, Culture, and Technology at Georgetown. She earned a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in Mandarin Chinese from the United States Naval Academy in 2010. After commissioning, she served 6 years on active duty in the U.S.Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer throughout the Western Pacific. In March 2011, her ship served as a first responder during Operation Tomodachi and she worked with the Japanese Self Defense Force to offer assistance to the Japanese citizens of Sendai. She participated in the Rim of the Pacific Exercise twice and served as a liaison for the People’s Liberation Army Navy during the 2016 exercise. Margaret became an avid supporter for veterans and youth through the Travis Manion Foundation. At Georgetown, she is focusing on social innovation and resource security, particularly in Asia and the Pacific Islands.
